Switched Reluctance Inverter and Testing

UTS was engaged by Long Road Enterprises (NY,NY) on the development of an innovative Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) design and testing effort. Long Road in cooperation with the New York Energy and Research Authority (NYSERDA) is developing a way to make SRM’s more manufacturable and more efficient. SRM technology has been around for 100 years+, however challenges such as torque ripple and noise have prevented wide spread commercial deployment. Long Road selected UTS to partner on this innovative development program to bring SRM technology to the main-steam in a cost effective manner for a number of commercial and industrial applications. UTS is developing the control and power electronics package for the new Long Road motor and using its in-house dynamometer equipment to test and validate the Long Road design and improvements.
